Does anyone have any experience buying a boat from St. Louis Sailing Center, good or bad?

If I am to buy a new boat, I want to work with an dealer with a exceptional reputation.

Thanks,

Sigbear

I only had one encounter with them. I asked them if they could give me a quote to fix a small gouge on the bottom of my little 17 ft daysailor. He wanted $300 just to look at it. I said forget it and I won't go back.

I have bought 2 boats and sold one through them. First boat was a Prindle 18 used which I latter sold myself. The other was a Cat 22 also used. I paid a fair price but when I went to sell it through them they wanted a low bal asking price. I wanted $1500 more. They finally agreed to sell at my price and it took only 5 weeks for it to sell (at my price).

People I know that have bought new boats have had mixed reviews, In the long run things resolved themselves favorably. I would be concerned about after the sale service if you keep the boat some distance away.

They have been in business many years. Check the Better Business Bureau for issues.
