The Amelia Island (Florida) Sailing Club held their annual St. Augustine Cruise over Labor Day Weekend. Ten boats made the cruise with our Hunter 340 (Klose Quarters 3)and Susan and Gary Mitchell's Hunter 420 (Traveler) included. My wife Susan and I left Friday morning at 6:00 AM and enjoyed a pleasant downwind ocean sail arriving in St. Augustine at 3:30 pm and anchoring off the fort (Castille San Marcos). We enjoyed a pleasant evening and proceeded to the municipal marina on Saturday morning to enjoy the comradary of our club. After and ejoyable snf food filled weekend the club left early Monday morning for the return trip. Nine of the ten boats (including Klose Quarters 3) opted for the ocean with a SW wind. Late afternoon thunderstorms harrased the fleet, but all returned safely and look forward to our millenium St. Augustine cruise.

St Augustine

Don, Our group left Jacksonville Friday night and anchored out, leaving Mayport the next morning. Unfortunately what wind we had was on the nose and by early afternoon the wind died completely. Naturally, on Monday the wind had shifted 180 degrees and of course was on the nose again on the way home. But that is cruising. That was some thunder bumper, at times it was raining so hard that visibility was down to 400 yards. Glad you had a good trip. Paul Bednarzyk S/V Knot Again
