Our Ray marine st 60 depth sounder quit working this week This was 3 year old replacement for OEM st 50.. Worked well. then displayed last depth reading 80 feet. Than now no display of depth just 3 horizontal dashes. Display of alarm sets are present and fine. Can display brightness setting . I removed Instr. from console and checked for loose transducer wire. seemed ok. trying to decern if problem is display or transducer. Any insight would be appreciated.

I would suspect it is a transducer problem. It would seem to be bottom growth over the transducer as it seems to be a progressive decline. Chief, USN sonar

When mine quit I sent it into Raymarine. They were able to repair it. I at first thought it might be the transducer but after talking to them I sent them just the head. Worth a call to the service center.

Thanks to all. Pulled the unit and checked connections. Am going to hookup a transducer and put it over the side and see if problem improves. I need to find paperwork for warranty repair. I appreciate your insight.

It's the transducer
Ordered a new transducer from defender. Attached wires and lowered transducer over the side. Display worked perfectly. Now we will wairt till haul out to place new transducer and through hull as it is not the same dia. as old one.

Ran the cable from bow to helm . Have transducer temp. place in a bag of water inside the hull. I get a signal for for a bit but then get a deep warning and alarm. I believe he sounder is losing the signal as the signal may not be strong enough to penetrate single hull. Perhaps I'll have to wait until I mount thru hull to get reliable signal.

I am going to mount transducer in hull . I plan to mount through hull flange in the hull and henfill with pink antifreeze and place transducer into internally mounted through hull. I believe I have found the correct spot to mount it in bow. anyone else tried this insights and caveats appreciated
