I know that there are lots of complaints and problems with the raymarine autopilots... I have one that came with my boat and have been trying to work out the kinks... when in auto - if the boats vears off course by mre the 10 degrees to starboard ... it will not recover but the display shows that it knows that it needs to turn to port.... has anyone had this problem ... and any ideas... the unit works great if going straight and is usually reliable in the mode for about an hour then it does it's funky thing... thanks.

Where is the Fluxgate Compass Installed?

Autohelm/Raymarine makes a good autopilot. Where is your unit's fluxgate compass installed?

My ST 1000's problem

My ST 1000 (tiller mounted) behaved erratically and tech support couldn't help. Turned out my problem was a bad connection where I plug and unplug it. I sand-papered the pins and cleaned the sockets with just the right sized allen wrench. Then blew electrical contact cleaner into the sockets. Did the trick

Call Raymarine and check for a firmware upgrade

I have a ST7000 (Autohelm) that did something like you describe when in track mode. Raytheon told me that there was a firmware change to the corepack computer (I think your computer is in the display head). Your product may need a similiar change. Get the firmware revision before calling- how to do this may be in your owner's manual or it may be displayed at power-on. With my system the only fix was to power off and then power back on. Then it would be "fine" for a while.....

Fluxgate location

My fluxgate is located down below away from all electronics.... I will check on the firmware topic with the company... maybe there is something there.... I would like to be able to rely on the autopilot... so I am willing to try anything...
