ST 4000+ Auto pilot wanders 30 degrees

I am still installing my auto pilot system , I mounted my ev-1 sensor core below deck by the companion way next to a fire extinguisher , bad idea ?,the manual says not to put close to electrical cables or compass , but not any metal objects , does the ev-1 and fluxgate compass work the same way ? should i move the fire extinguisher ??
