I recently got by Ham technicians license and understand that the SSB can be used for non business Email. I have not be able to find any information on how to do this. Can anyone point me to a resource? Also anyone one know any good resource on the use of marine SSB? All of the material I can find on this has been for hams and talk very little about the marine use. Cheap and Reliable
Pick up a copy of the ARRL's book on the subject of digital communications - can't recall specific name. In it you will find virtually all forms of digital communications systems and modes discussed in terms applicable to marine service. Personally, I've used HF packet for years to send/receive e-mail and pictures offshore from either coast. Depending upon the service, some are free to very inexpensive and rival the quality and dependability of any commerncial service such as Pinoak. The equipment is equivalent regardless as is it's cost. DB
