Since we have no backstay has anyone tried using a shroud with an insulated dipole antenna such as that offered by GAM electronics? I am installing a Furuno SSB model FS-1503.

A friend with a ketch used an insulated side stay for his SSB. We were never impressed with the SSB performance, but don't know if that had anything to do with the antenna or not. Most everyone I know with B&R rigs is using a whip antenna and seem to be satisfied with them. RD
