Squeeling like a pig!

My 1985 27 Catalina "Peccadillo" has developed a "squeeling" noise when the Universal 14 and Hurth transmission is placed in forward. It does not happen all of the time but when it does, it causes the engine th shut down. When it does happen, is seems to be random with respect to RPM and the length of time when motoring. Any tips to correct the problem will be gratefully appreciated!

Squeal

Had the same thing happen to my Catalina 30. I replaced the cutless bearing and aligned the engine.It was binding enough to shut the engine down.
