I'm going nuts with the squeeking whenever we step on the boards which give access to the bilge. We've been told that it's been a flaw in all the 310's that my dealer has sold. Have you experienced the same thing, and if so, what has been your solution? Kevin #333

Squeeky Bilge Floor Hatch

We added some felt pads with adhesive backing that you get at any hardware store that are typically used to protect hardwood floors from furniture legs. I believe we added one at each corner and then an extra here and there to level out any differences in floor level with the hatch. No more squeeks in the past 3+ years. And, yes, before we did this it drove us nuts. Gary 2003 C310 #230 "Rhythm"

I used adhesive-backed rubber seal...

I ordered 'Fire-Rated Adhesive-Backed Rubber Bulb Seal'(part no. 1067A272) from McMaster-Carr. I stuck it on the bottom ledge of the floor cut-out, so the access panel sets on top of the thin rubber molding. This has worked pretty well for me. Now I'm looking for something to cushion the lazaret doors.

Pad the edges

On our boat the squeak was coming from the port side edge of the hatch where it was rubbing up against the adjacent flooring. I added two small soft pads about one half inch by one half inch (to the edge of the hatch) to create a space between the hatch and the adjacent flooring. The squeak went away.
