Squeal at 2200-2600 rpm

Hello all

For quite awhile now my engine/shaft on 2006 Catalina 309 (Yanmar 21 hp) high pitched squeal at 2200 rpm up to about 2600 rpm....I have had it looked at a few times by mechanics, I have also changed cutlas and bearings....a few years ago (before changing cutlas etc.) I had a line wrap around prop shaft....but no visible damage..... Also thought it might be the water (drip) cooling - but the shaft and surrounding areas are cool, even after long runs (2 hours)....If I run at 2800 rpm, even for long periods, no sounds.....

Any ideas?

Could be the carbon thrust bearing on the PYI shaft seal. Any sign of black dust around the seal?

Checked - no sign of anything unusual around seal....mechanic who changed cutlas said it may be a bearing in transmission and was probably nothing to worry about....but I am not sure how comfortable I am with that answer.....
