Peggy, I know this sounds lame, BUT, We have just installed a new Groco head that can be pumped into an Electra/san. Now after 2 months the handle on the Groco is squeaking and seems more difficult to pump. I looked in the archives , but found nothing. Any hints? Thanks

Needs Lubricant?

It sounds like the pump cylinder needs to be lubricated. Marine supply stores sell head lubricants specifically for that purpose - add to bowl & flush. No matter what others may tell you, DO NOT use vegetable oil. It'll work, but will build up a scum inside your holding tank.

Head just needs lubrication.

Raritan Concentrate lubricates the head, and won't hurt the Lectra/San. Raritan Concentrate is supposed to be mixed with 2 liters of water, NOT just poured down the head!...so you'll need to add a Raritan Toilet Water Kit that lets you siphon a bit out of a reservoir each time you flush. Or you can take the pump apart once or twice a season and slather teflon grease all over the piston and cylinder.
