OUR 2000 340 HAS A PAR HEAD. IT'S 9 MO. OLD. RECENTLY IT HAS STARTED SQUEAKING VERY LOUDLY WHEN PUMPED. I HAD THE SAME HEAD IN A CATALINA 34 THAT NEVER GAVE ANY TROUBLE AT ALL. PEGGIE SAYS DON'T USE HEAD LUBE. SALT WATER BOAT. ANY IDEAS?

I never said that...

I do recommend against pouring oil down the toilet, but there's certainly no reason why--in salt water or fresh--you shouldn't use teflon grease (Sea Lube or or Super Lube) to lubricate a toilet. In fact, it's the only thing I DO recommend.

Veggie Oil?

I occasionally add a few drops of baby oil to the bowel and flush into the holding tank. If you're worried about the environment( I am, but don't think a few drops of oil will hurt), then try using vegtable oil. (biodegradable)

Had the same problem. Jabsco said .....

to pull the pump handle by unscrewing the screws on top of the pump housing. Pull the plunger out of the cylindar. On the pump handle shaft is an "O" ring that is causing the squeeking. They said to lubricate the "O" ring with a silicone type lubricant. I did, and it stopped squeeking. Good luck. Wynn Ferrel S/V Tranquility

Oil in holding tank not an environmental issue...

And a few drops occasionally prob'ly isn't enough to matter. But much more than that puts an oil slick on the surface in the tank that "seals" the contents and increases odor.
