HI, I just changed my raw water impeller. When I started the engine, there is a noticeable squeak like a squeakey wheel which I have not noticed previously. No leaks and have good water flow. Have searched the archive but found no similar problems. Has anyone experiences this and how to fix? Regards, Doug Margison SV Mokum II

Squeaky pump Belt?

Did you tighten the pulley on the pump belt sufficiently or is it possible it's slipping just a little?

Squeaky Pump - Too Tight?

1) If the impeller shaft is too loose and not leaking, maybe you tightened the belt too tight and the pump shaft is now pulled slightly off center which may cause it to squeak. It is also a sign that the shaft (or bushing) is worn and may soon fail. Be careful! 2) Or... Did you lubricate the impeller when you replaced it? If it sounds like a rubber squeak, then that may be it. If it sounds like a metal squeak, the go back to #1.

vasoline?

I may be wrong, but I seem to remember reading that vasoline causes rubber to deteriorate faster.... ?
