The recreation capital of Canada, Squamish is an excellent port of call for northwest sailors. Where else can you sail in and bring your snowboard for a day at Whistler ? Or skinny ski the Olympic Nordic venues at Calaghan Valley, MTB at the famous ''Test of Metal'' Race, climb the Stawamus Chief or local crags, windsurf and kite at the best location next to the Gorge or Nitnat, whitewater paddle on 5 local rivers and dozens of creek runs, salmon fish in season, watch thousands of bald eagles from dec to feb, hike Garibaldi Park, view massive Shannon Falls in spring, visit the impressive Railway Museum with the Royal Hudson steam train, or join us for some winds that the first nations describe using the word ''mother'' in various ways. The yacht club has a long running race called S.OA.R. that attracts yachts from all over. There is enoough wind in august so days to shred a spinakker, or scare a J boat, or make it in 4 hrs from Vancouver. As an added bonus, there is a resident gang of dolphins near Pam Rocks that love to scare the ham out of you by jumping 5 ft away from your boat with no warning. Oh, and a micro brewery a block away from the govt dock and SYC.
