Looks like we may have a few milder days up here finally. Planning on painting the bottom on Sunday in anticipation of splash on Friday. We haven't ha a nice day here in forever. I don't think I've looked forward to summer more than I have this year.

I launched last years boat on the first of March, and I remember it being fairly nice.
Tuesday, I moved another boat to the hill, and the 5 hour ride up the Cape Fear, I about FROZE! I was so cold, that ten minutes prior to approaching a rail-road bridge I had to hail, I put my right hand inside my jacket to warm up, because by that point, I was relatively sure that my hands wouldn't operate the two-way.
Now, I LIKE cold weather sailing. Never have been a fair weather boater, not by a long shot. But crap, I'm just now getting over it..

East TN has also been strange. Two weekends ago it was 65 and great sailing. Last week they pulled my boat to paint but can't and has been in the 30's with snow showers all week.

A big step BACKWARDS

For those of you looking for an early spring...
Well here is a picture I took a few minutes ago! Spring has just took a big step backwards. There was no snow at all on the deck yesterday. This has fallen since early this morning and it is expected to continue until tomorrow afternoon.... :cussing: BTW there is a 14" ruler standing straight up under there some place....

Last year at this time the boat was in the water and we had been sailing for a week. This year we will be lucky to get her in the water by May 1st!

Ohhhh, thats such a bad April fools joke. We usually get snow Apr. 1st for the past few years, but that one tops them all.....

We moved from the midwest to get away forever from the cold. tKanzler, the summers are much cooler than the midwest. We never have a 100 degree day and always have a breeze. I should work for the chamber of commerce. This place is paradise for sailors. Don't mean to gloat but I feel like I made the perfect choice. 12 years and no regrets.
Yeah well- I spent ten days there at Laisley in Jan '10 and it hit 23 degrees!!!! Didn't get over 30 for ten straight days. That was the year of the fish kill- you could almost walk across the canals on the dead fish.

But the sailing there IS fantastic. Loved Cayo Costa and Pine Island Sound.
