Well my spring refit which was suposed to take only a month has
finally ended (3.5 months). I have the boat in the water and took the
first sail yesterday. There are still afew loose ends to clear up but
hopefully I'll get out for a short cruise in the next few weeks.

Thanks to everyone who offered advice and answered my questions. If
anyone needs any pointers on what I did let me know and I'll be glad
to follow up.

So here is what I did:

Installed Lavac head and 9 gallon holding tank
Reinforced the main cabin bulkhead
Replaced the forward bulkhead
New LED running and cabin lights
New wiring, battery switch and panel
Veneered worn wood in fwd cabin with 3mm ribbon sapele (still have
main cabin to do)
New VHF and instrument panel (antenna still needs to be instaled)
New rudder built and installed
New 2 bladed perfect pitch prop installed
Mast steps installed
Replaced forestay using Sta-Loc fittings
Mast track and fittings refastened
Chain plates removed and rebeddedI have some new sails (main and drifter) coming soon. Now it's time
to stop working and start sailing!

Wow, sounds like you're the "Energizer Bunny" !
A couple of questions, if I may:

-On the rudder: did you use the old one as a pattern or did you use
the measurements in the files section, Yahoo site, "How to build a
Vegarudder.pdf" ?

-What kind of LED cabin lights did you use, and are you happy with
them?

Thanks!

Oh to be 39 again!!! I am impressed too - that's an amazing list.

I did set a new record however, it took me 13 months from when I got my
Volvo out of the boat and when I fired Beta up. Of course I have to add
another five months that it sat in my garage (but it was winter, rainy, and
not the kind of weather one wants to be out in putting in an engine. But 18
months for an engine install - gotta be a record (Steve does it in two
days!!!!!). I must say it looks great, runs great, and I learned a bunch -
you can teach an old dog new tricks.
