Good morning! I wanted to share with everyone who's in the Kemah/Galveston/Seabrook area our upcoming Sea Scouting event at Sea Star Base Galveston! It's a week-long event called "Spring Long Cruise"; it's not quite what it sounds like, as most would read the name and think it's literally just going out for a cruise for a week. It's really a week-long event revolving around sailing smaller boats out in Offats Bayou and working toward rank advancement for younger scouts to get more hands-on experience, and higher ranking scouts to get some teaching done and just hang out and have fun! We do flag ceremonies twice a day with a "semi-proper" color guard, and teach basic lessons to visitors on knot tying, parts of a boat, boat lingo, etc. Also, I was just notified a few weeks ago, much to my surprise, that I'm "Boatswain of the Week" for this event, so I'll basically be overseeing everything, keeping my eye on everyone, and making announcements when necessary when I'm not out sailing FJs for practice for the Koch Cup in June. This year is turning out to be quite eventful!
