In the Northwest, it is good to remember that Spring is the time of rain showers that bring April flowers.

This year's Spring Sailing Break looks to be a mixture of weather. The temps will be moderate, in the mid to upper 50's F (low teens C) during the daylight hours.

Overall, the picture is wet, with cloudy overtones for the week.

Good news: With winds coming up from the South for the first half of the week you should be able to sail from Olympia to the San Juan's. Watch the tidal currents as the breezes are looking good for Monday but fading as the week progresses. This is driven by the good-sized Low in the Gulf of Alaska.

Using the NOAA GFS model and then Windy's Euro model, the start of the week looks like this.

This will bring southerly winds and warm, moist temps early in the week. As the Low cell moves onto the Canadian coast, a High cell nudging up from the SW will bring clearing skies later in the week. Sunshine is looking favorable for Thursday and Friday. With the advancement of the high pressure, you could see the winds die to calm as they swing around to the NE at week's end.

Good luck to all.
Make some memories and go sailing.

Not that I'm in your neck of the woods, but my bottom paint is going on today and confirmed the boat will splash next week. So ready for time on the water!

You have got to be kidding. It rains year 'round here with maybe a little more in the Spring.

The PNW :

The most beautiful place on Earth ............ on both days it doesn't rain.

It rains so much here that people have started to grow webbing between their toes.

Everybody thinks we have year 'round tans .................. no, it's actually rust.

PS Don't forget your umbrella  .

In Florida, Spring break means lots more people…at the beach, at the restaurants, on the roads. We call it “the season”. But fortunately, the horde is starting to thin out, the airport is crazy crowded with people heading back north to where ever they came from.

What it means to me is that I am getting closer to heading north, where my boat is waiting for some bottom paint and splash. Made a hotel reservation for May 8 for my drive home…so we are getting closer.

Told the Mrs to make a “bucket list” of things we want to do before we leave SW Florida…restaurants to try, experienced to do (I have yet to see a manatee), etc…we have less than 38 days now to get it done…

Then, I am trying to get her used to the idea that she will be a boat widow for the summer. She doesn’t really like to sail except in perfect weather (sunny, not too hot, light winds, no waves). So I sail a lot without her….

I do not know about toe webbing. I can not see it because of the moss that has been growing over the past 50-plus years. I have so much moss that some of the trees in the forest are jealous.

Yes, after looking at this photo of your left foot, I can see what you mean. Unfortunately, no webbing is going to stick in between those little piggies. That will certainly make it much tougher for getting around in those deeper puddles.
