I need to replace my spreader tips. I have a new set of rubber ones that go over the end of the spreader and over and around my shrouds( basically, the rubber tip is split in half lengthwise). I figure the best way to do this is to 'serve' them. Any other suggestions as to how to put them on? These are the ones i intend to use, so please dont tell me about wheels. Thanks in advance. Can you post a picture of them? I had my mast pulled this year and need to replace the boots also. They seem to be described by you. I have had a problem finding that type, though. I need two different sized pairs (2 sets of spreaders) about 2-1/2" and about 4". I still have the old ones. They have two holes on each side (for the shrouds) and are split from the hole to the inside edge of the shroud cap in order to slide them over the spreader like a shroud cap. They were taped around the spreader and on to the inside edge of the cap to hold them in place (several wraps). I once had them inspected and the rigger replaced the white rigging tape that held them in place. Contact me thru this site if you have questions or need a picture.

serve them?

I am not sure I understand......I had the same boots on my old boat, bought through West marine. I replaced them when I hauled for winter and mast was taken down.

I haven't seen them Online or in the WM catalog. They are not the same kind that are shown when you do a search. These are for double shrouds and are more like end caps.

Those are Isomat Spreader Boots

The white plastic caps with holes for two shrouds fit Isomat spreaders. I've never seen them at WM. Call your local rigging shop. Tony, No need to serve them with small stuff (too tight and it cuts the rubber). We use 3M PVC electrical tape, sticks well and lasts for a year or two. Randy

Use Wheels ;-)

Much easier and more effective. Plus those rubber spreader tips don't last long.

You may want to check with Peter at Holland Marine Products. He's got lots of those hard to find stuff. I think they bought all the spare parts from C&C and CS when the makers went under. http://www.hollandmarine.com/

I like 'em

I use them with a wheel above the rubber. One tip - wrap them with rigger's tape. If you tape the entire cover, the tape will deteriorate in a year, but the cover will stay nice - then you can tape it again the next year. Leave some gaps so air can get in and water can drain out.

no rubber for me...

I replaced those tee shaped rubber spreader boots about 5 years ago with the canvas covered pads that buckle to the ends of the spreaders. Absolutely no problems with durability, don't trap water and they look okay too. No need to tape or zip lock either. http://www.defender.com/product.jsp?path=-1|118|107602|297680&id=214174

Aerodynamic spreaders

Most spreader boots are designed for round spreaders. What manufacturer produces boots for aerodynamic spreaders? Who sells them?
