My mast is now down.

My spreaders have been sliding down when I sail. I then push them back up with a stick... something is obviously wrong with the setup.

As you look at the shroud wire, on the bottom is the spreader end, then there is a spreader roller, then on top of this is a smaller disk that is clamped tight to the spreader wire and prevents the spreader from rising too high. But there is nothing to prevent the spreader from going too low.

It looks like I need another one of these small disk clamps to put below the spreader.

Does this sound right to you?

I also can't find anything when I do a search.

Does anyone know where I can buy these small disk clamps?

Thanks,
Roy

I had a similar problem. I fastened them with siezing wire to the
shrouds. Then covered them with boots. Check the condition of the
hounds at the mast. That may be part of your problem.

Just for the record,

I think the smaller disk clamp comes with the roller when you buy it.
I was not able to find anything suitable as a spreader roller. The only one I did find is made by Ronstan.

I did have success when I searched out clamps of various types.
It turns out that this device is more popularly known as a "shaft collar". It is a small disk shaped clamp.

I found a two piece nylon shaft collar at McMaster-Carr. I haven't got them yet, but expect them to work ok. The smallest inner diameter on the nylon clamps is .250 inches. The shroud wire is about .200 inches in dia. I will put some shrink tubing or something in there to take up the space.

They also had stainless ones.
