I am new to larger boats, (day sailor) and are unfamiliar with the current boat I am about to launch and step. Do I need a boot at the end of my spreader poles to hold the wire into place? Or does tension hold the wires in their grove? Any help appreciated, thank you.

Spreaders

You will probably find a hole through each spreader just inboard of the the shroud, which will allow you to wire the shroud to the spreader.

Seizing wire

Yes, I was told by the marina when stepping the mast that you must wire the spreader poles over the stays with stainless steel seizing wire just in case the stays "pop-out".
