The polymer end of my 1" round aluminum spreader has broken. I would epoxy it but have not had great success glueing nylon-like plastics. Are replacements still available, any more common boats that used the same part? I can't seem to find any on the internet. We've had her since new with few issues.
Thanks for any help.

Can you take a picture of the good/other side - spreader and end so we can see what you are trying to match?

Thanks for your quick responses Tom & Bill.
Here's a shot of the broken spreader cap. As you can see part of it is still inside the spreader. Because the Sirius is a trailerable it is important that the new cap also be able to capture the stay so that it remains with the spreader & slides on the stay as the mast is lowered & raised. This must have been an off-the-shelf part in the summer of '85. There may be other boats with more production volume than the Sirius that are still be making parts available now.
Thanks, Harry

Spreader Tip

I found this at (bwyachats) as it looks similar to yours it may work for you. I had been looking for one myself but couldn't find it using 'spreader' or 'end' or 'clamp' as part of its expected name. So far I have not reverted to "thingy" but I seem to be getting closer as time goes on.

just a thought. Look at Dwyer Mast site as that might be the builder of your mast and spreader by chance. They are on line.

Thanks everyone! I've bitten the bullet & epoxied the pieces together--it can be reversed if I find a part. I'm going to try it in the spring to see if it holds up.
Fred, that's a very generous offer; the ID is ~15/16". I'm going to stop at some boat yards that sell/service MacGregors in larger coastal cities in my travels this winter.
BTW, I've just had 2 new aluminum rudder stock plates fabricated--the ones that capture the kick up rudder. The others were worn badly by rubbing on the P. mahogany rudder over the years. I have Truant on a mooring in water so shallow that I have keep it kicked-up as it's too heavy to ship & unship each time I sail. The lake (Michigan) level is lower than it's ever been since recordings began!
Thanks, Harry
