Spreader Diameter

I have a Lancer 25 trailerable. The spreaders that came with the boat are 1" diameter while the mounts clearly accept a 1 1/8" diameter tube. This makes for loose spreaders. Looking around, the standard is 1". Does this sound right? Should the spreaders be allowed to wobble like that?

Check here for info on the Kenyon mast that may match the one on your boat.http://www.rigrite.com/spars/kenyon_spars/3550-Mast.html The spreaders should indeed be 1 1/8". Undersized tubing will cause the spreader to wobble in the socket and may cause them to fail.
