After patching the sprayhood for the nth time, while reinstalling on Vista I dropped one of the thumb screws overboard. Its stainless so can't use magnet to recover. Its on the harbour floor in who knows how much mud, might as well be on the moon. Anybody have a spare or any idea how to get a new one? Even know what thead is used might help.George

Wow! Now thats a piece of obvious and smart thinking as I set here
wondering why I didn't think of that? I guess I am obviously not
smart. Doug

I bit my tongue when I said it. My nearest chandlery (West Marine) is ~70 miles away and caters to small powerboats. They seldom have anything on-hand that I'm interested in. The upside has been good or no advice. No bad advice ever.Alan,,, on the Colorado shoreline after a few more days of global warming.

Please enlighten me. where does the thumbscrew go? I had an old sprayhood on Lyric and can't recall a thumbscrew. I'm still using the original bases to attach the bows to for my newer dodger but they use a round-head machine screw. There is a threaded plate either side of the cabin. The thumb screw attaches the two hoops (that form the sprayhood) to the threaded plate. I took a picture but can't for the life of me figure how to attacha picture. If I select "attachments" or "photos" at the top I lose this text. I can't say I like this new style in fact I think it's practically unusable. Loaded ThumbScrew.jpg to files section, you'll have to pretend I attached it.George

Hello George

Are you still in Roundstone? Can’t help you with the thread question, it certainly isn’t a standard metric thread, it’s coarser than that. I may have one on my boat but won’t be going there for a few days, I certainly have the plates but don’t use them any more.

Regards

Mike Freeman

Hi all I have the plates on my boat but no hoops or sprayhood.   Did the Vegas come with a sprayhood from new?   Carl To: AlbinVega@yahoogroups.comFrom: AlbinVega@yahoogroups.comDate: Wed, 19 Nov 2014 07:36:24 +0000Subject: RE: [AlbinVega] Sprayhood thumb screw

Hi Mike, you haven't swallowed the anchor yet I hope. Still in Conemara but I have move a bit round the coast. The next bay south, Kilkieran Bay, in the village (bit of an exaggeration - shop, pub, church - everything for mind and body).George
