Spray suntan lotion

I was amongst a group of skippers complaining to their "admirals" this past weekend about the overspray from the new fangled "spray-on" sunscreens that is creating havoc on their boats. The stuff settles on everything causing a gooey mess...especially noticeable on Strataglass or other clear lenses. We were all wondering if we are alone? It takes some real scribbing to remove it!
Two skippers have banned it from their boats. Anyone else had this problem?

Suntan lotion..

Spray or not can RUIN dodger glass, especially Strattaglass, and make a mess of plotter screens too not to mention gelcoat. Spray suntan oil or bug dope is not allowed on board our boat since a friend ruined a dodger window with it..

While I hate the feel and smell

of sunscreens, I use them whenever sailing. Two of my friends have gotten melanoma and one died from it. I use Banana Boat in a tube, or similar stuff, with an SPF of 50 even though I'm somewhat protected by a bimini. I tried that Frog something-or-other sunscreen spray to see if it works as well or is easier to use. But what do you do about your face? Not going to spray that crap in my puss! Back to Banana Boat....

the spray is novel and quick

but expensive and messy, we stopped using it because the kids would go thru way to much, and the over spray gets on everything and then attracts dirt and bugs.

Best sailing lotion

The best and ONLY TOTALLY DRY lotion is Banana Boat Sport Dri- Block.
ONLY get the bottle that says "Powder Dri Technology." It goes on wet like any other lotion but dries to a powder in about 5 minutes. You can put it on and roll in the sand after it dries and nothing will stick. No oil, no slip-period.
MAKE SURE you get the version shown below. They also make a spray and a tube with the same name and pkg color but they don't have the powder dry technology as the bottle
