spray suntan lotion residue

As I'm spring-cleaning my B361, I found a sticky "goo" on several of the horizonal surfaces in the cabin. I haven't found any solvent that will cut it. I finally buffed most of it off with compound (even on the varnished wood). I'm pretty sure it is overspray from spray-on suntan lotions. I'm now banning them from the boat. Has anyone else had this experience?

My wifes hairspray goops up the doorknobs(and probably a bunch of other stuff) but "GO-JO" hand cleaner seems to work best to clean it up.

Could be bug spray. Deet does nasty things to plastics. All deet products banned from our boat and hairspray is frowned upon.

Bad stuff...

Bug sprays & spray suntan lotion are bad news. Also do not let them get on dodger glass or electronics screens..

The spray on suntan lotion permanently stained my gelcoat!! I am repainting the cockpit lazarettes in order to totally get rid of it - turned them ORANGE. I used everything- even a finish restorer, to no avail. No more spray on suntan lotion allowed!

agreed, they say it's the sunscreen that damages boat surfaces, some cushion manufactors warn of what it will do, we have the bottomsiders in the cockpit and protect them from sunscreen on nearly naked bodies.
