Not sure if this is the appropriate forum, but can anyone give any advice on how to properly repair a spongy cockpit sole and is this a DIY repair or does it require professional attention?

Is this gelcoat or wood?...

and if gelcoat do you know if the fiberglass is cored over balsa or foam? The right answer will depend on this. However, in general if you have a void in there you need to fill with epoxy, failing a complete redo. You can see some of this on Fiberglass trilogy #3 above. Thanks Jim Willis

if you can get to it the bottom side is the way to go. you can cut away the bottom, replace the core and glass over it. Its messy and uncomfortable but you dont have to redo the deck completly. but you do need to find out why its bad, where it is getting wet ect. and close the source of moisture.
