Greetings, new to forum and My 1986 Hunter 23. The turn buckle w/1/4 in. cleavis pin doesn't fit over the horizontal pin I'm assuming is the aft stay chain plate. Do I just use a bow Shackle to connect the split stays?
Thanks Brian, I thought they look to small to hold the load. They should be thru bolted I imagine? Mine move and I'm not sure they are thru bolted, I'll check.
They aren't required to be as strong as the shrouds or forestay. The back stay doesn't receive much load even when depowering the main. However, that being said they shouldn't wiggle too much
Thanks, I checked them out, it appears the screw that holds the small plate screws into the horizontal pin. Are those molded in pins also designed for docking lines? I notice there is one in the bow as well, maybe for the Anchor rode end?
Yes - the molded in pins at the stern can be used for docklines. I can't recall exactly what's inside the anchor locker for the anchor line. I think it is an eye of some sort. The backstay lowers attach to the metal tabs with clevis pins.
