Nice! Showin' Her Off??

Any thoughts on making a return voyage to Keyport to show her off up here in New Jersey?? Just kidding! We've had our boat on the hard since the middle of September due to water level issues. Actually, it has been a good opportunity. I've pulled the engine out of its hold to replace the mounts with the new ones that I bought a few years ago. I also am replacing the packing gland with a PSS. I've had a new cover made and I'm refinishing all of the interior wood work, which is a lot! It is nice to be doing this work without a lot of stress!

I like the unique color! I like a blue hull as well. Good luck with the experiment!

Photos of my 84 C30 the Sunday and Tuesday after Ike. Damage was restricted to scratches and gouges in the gelcoat above and below the waterline and one 12" x 12" area on the starboard side. The repair yard suggested painting the hull since matching the gelcoat would not match in a month due to the age of the boat. What experience/success have you had in the durability of paint? Normal maintenance, cleaning and waxing?

Photos of my '84 C30 the Sunday and Tuesday after Ike. Looks like it will get a paint job mainnly dur to a 12" x 12" area on the starboard side that the repair yard said would not match in a couple of months after the repair. Waht is your experience with paint durability on the hull? Normal maintenance, cleaning and waxing.

Answering questions

Will try to answer all the questions that have been asked. I did it at Lake Catherine marina, which for those of you in this area is in the channel that runs behind Ft.Pike, at the Rigoles.
Anyone going over there keep this in mind. There are two rates for DIY yard work. It's 10 bucks a foot to pull and launch, and 15 a day. If he likes you. If you go in there being an ass, the prices go up considerably. That is no joke. My charges are 15 a day, there is a smart ass working on a boat two down from me, he is paying 25 per day. I sanded out all the gouges in the hull, and filled with marine tex. Time will have to tell on the paint, but as far as I can tell, the stuff I used is very similar, or the same, as the marine one part urethanes. Only much cheaper. I used a foam roller, rolled on one coat, sanded again, and put on another coat. The lettering is vinyl, looks very good, and was super easy to install. Only problem with it was trying to decide what I wanted. There are literally hundreds of fonts, and lots of different outline and shadow patterns, not to mention a gazillion colors to choose from. The time in the yard will be three weeks this Monday. As of noon today the boat is completely finished, and plans are to splash her on Friday.
Scott, coming up that way is really not in the planning stages, but I would love to make another trip up the east coast next summer. Don't know if it will happen or not, but there sure are a lot of people up that way I would love to meet, and places I would like to visit. I would very much like to meet Ross, and Mainesail and sevral more up that way. You for sure are one of the good guys, and unless my memory has failed me, I owe you a drink or two. Time will tell.
