I am looking to purchase a used spinnaker for my 88 30 tall rig. Anyone know the correct sizing? (Luff, Foot, and Leech). (purchased with pole but no spinnaker)Any tips on a good source to get a used one?ThanksTim
As far as a good source for used spinnakers, try Minney's in Costa Mesa, CA (http://www.minneysyachtsurplus.com). They're legendary in CA and will ship anywhere on approval.
Tim: Quick spinnaker lesson: First you need to know the weight of material you a looking for. Typical weights are .5,.75,.1.5, and 2.2 ounces per SMY (sailmaker's yard)....Usual club spinnakers are .75 oz. Dimensions for a spinnaker are determined by the following formulas: SL (spinnaker luff length) (SL)=.95 (sq. root of I squared + J squared) and the spinnaker maximum width SMW=1.8 times J. The folks at minneys will help you no doubt....DAVE
