I am thinking of getting a ATN Spinnaker sleeve.

I fly a big kite on a CS30. I am having difficulty dowsing it especially if the wind is strong and short handed. Has anyone use one and how is your experience the ATN product.

Yes, I have one and love it. I also have the tacker, which works great. I usually don't use it unless the winds are very light and have help. But, use your main to lesson the wind problem and release your sheet and it should dowse.... but yes, not easily under stronger winds.

While you are researching this take a look at the North Sails product. It has a plastic insert on the bottom which really works to guide the sail into the sleeve. We use ours with the tacker as well. If starting over again I would also consider a separate furler for the spyn.

I've seen the Chute Scoop brand selling for less dollars than the ATN. Anyone have one of these?

I have a RollGen now so I don't need the sock setup any more.

Didn't like the ATN tacker because I could not completely colapse the sail.

Comes with all hardware ....length is 37'.

Up for sale to good owner.

I use a spinnaker pole. It is a full spinnaker, not a Asym. I don't use the Tacker.

It measures 40 feet, so 37 feet will not completely close up the spinnaker. Would there be a problem?

Would you drop me an e-mail alec.ko.ca@gmail.com

This picture shows the problem for me with the ATN tacker, which was awkward for me to go forword and release.

Later I installed a tac line down to the shackle on the anchor channel and ran the line back to a cleat on the mast, that way I could just stand in one place release the tac line and pull the sock line down and what little sail and line left over just stuffed in soc with out blowing all over the place.

Paul,
The rollgen looks interesting. How do you like yours? Pros/cons?

I have a snuffer on my Asym and love it! I have had problems both ways: "launching" it sometimes sticks halfway up so I have 1/2 a spinnaker to deal with (helps if I manually pull the center of the sail out as the sock is going up), and once dousing in 20+ knots I had a problem with the spinnaker filling when half doused - it really needs to be luffing when you're pulling the sock down.

But in general, it's GREAT for single-handed spinnaker handling! Not sure if it would be as good for a sym on a pole, though.
