Can anyone advise the correct luff for a symmetrical spinnaker for 86 H31 ? Also any tricks for revoning sail numbers ? The chute is going to be used primarily for racing

Go to PHRF of the Chesapeake and look under standard sail and equipment specifications and you will find the specifications on spinnaker measurements. Ray T

The luff length of a spinnaker is not as critical as the genoa or main. In general the luff could be close to the "I" of the boat. The I of an H31 is 32' 7". If you use a chute from 30 to 35 ft it will work just fine.
For your PHRF rating you will need to contact your local rating committee to find what the local regs are that allow for any given size without a penalty. The girth of the spinnaker is also a factor in the rating. My local rating committee allows for a girth not to exceed 1.8 J without penalty.
