Just completing installation of symm spinnaker on my ODay 26. Will end for end pole.

Is it better to shackle tack(s) to sheet and guy or tie ends?

If shackle do I need guards and how are these installed??

On the clews it better to have shackles; it makes it possible to 'spike' or blow the corner of the sail. Not SOP but handy when you need to. Not possible with bowlines because of the pressure of the sail.

Shackle guards simply slip up the sheet and the slightly larger diameter of the hole stops it on the eye splice. Normally they just stay in place, but if you want you can build up a stop behind it with some whipping twine wrapped and a splice.
