Spinnaker Question

If you are talking an asymmetrical, then no problem.. if a conventional symmetrical with a pole, there will be some issues.. at full hoist, the bottom will be too high to deal with easily.. if you don't go to full hoist to keep the pole where it should be, you may have problems with spinnaker oscillation which can be really tough to drive through. In light air, the symmetrical could be used, but it would require lotsof fiddling.. Might be fun to play with ..
It is an asymmetric and it is on a roller furler. Providing the hardware is on the boat, does this mean I just need to add a pennant at the base of the furler to reach a shackle on the anchor roller? or would I be better off just not hoisting it all the way up. Thanks.
A small pennant to hook on something strong and out forward enough to have the sail clear the forestay is sufficient you'll have to figure out the clew lead angle by playing with it some. I would try to keep the furling drum as low as clearances will allow.. Pick a low wind day and have fun.. You can use some high modulus line as a pennant and if you have three or four parts you'll be able to adjust it fairly quickly. Once you know the length, you can have a wire pennant made up ..
