I want to run a cruising spinnaker halyard for my 1984 Hunter 31. I have not been to the top of my stick. I'm trying to save at least one trip up there. How would I attach my block? What diameter line and how long? What size sheets would you reccommend. Thanks Steve

1. Don't know how to attach the block. 2. But it should be good for 3/8" line. 3. 3/8" line. 4. 80-90 feet 5. 5/8" line for good grip 6. Here's a free idea for bowsprit...

If you use...

...spectra, which I highly recommend, then a clean exit block in the mast is all that you need to run your spinnaker halyard. If you use anything else you will need to have a block on a bail with a SWL of about 1500#. Halyard length should be 2 1/2X mast height(3/8 line is plenty). Your spinnaker sheets should be twice the length of your boat each, again 3/8 line is plenty. I would also consider a pair of 3/16 lines for light air.

Masthead set for spinnaker

OK, Clicked on the wrong place. Look for the title above, "Masthead set for spinnaker" . You don't need an extra block for your spinnaker.
