I have just purchased a used asymmetrical spinnaker for my Islander 30. It has a pro furl system for the jib. I need to avoid tangling the spinnaker halliard around the pro furl head. Does anyone have any suggestions about how to rig the spinnaker halyard. Do I use a mast head crane? Is that the correct term even? Has anyone made their own? Is there a way to attach the halliard block BELOW the Top of the Pro furl and gybe the spinnaker inside the fore stay or is that asking for trouble? Thanks for any advise or pointers. P

The spin halyard has to be above the jib, and the spinnaker is supposed to gybe around the outside of both sails. Do you have a photo of the masthead setup on your boat?? Attaching the halyard below the top of the ProFurl is asking for trouble and really not how it is supposed to be rigged.
This can be a problem with a spinnaker halyard for any kind of kite. You have to experiment to find the solution, but you can start with a bale that extends or sticks out further in front of the masthead getting the halyard block away from the upper swivel. The tail of the halyard might still get in the way and perhaps you can either route that internally into the masthead if there is an available sheave and the lead is fair, or you can route it to a cheek block up by the masthead to bring it down the side of the mast externally and away from the upper swivel. An other alternative is to drop your headsail to the deck getting the upper swivel out of the picture, but that is a hassle as I know you would rather just furl the sail instead.
