I've ordered all of the parts for rigging a spinnaker on my '86 23.5. Should I run the halyard to the masthead, I would need to install a sheave. If not, I would like to know the height off the deck to install the exit block on my 29.5 foot mast. I don't know if there are specs for this dimension, or if they affect PHRF. The jib block is located a few inches BELOW the forestay and is not used because I have a roller furler. Could I use this for my topping lift, or is another block required? Any help would be greatly appreciated before I start my winter project. Thanks....Troy

from the owners manual

The manual states 'Spin. pole topping lift block is 22" above spreader. Spin. halyard exit is 1 1/2" above forestay. The fixed eye is 47 1/2" from the base of the mast. Hope this helps.

SPIN HALYARD

I INSTALLED A CRUISING CHUTE THIS PAST SUMMER ON MY H240. IT IS ALSO EQUIPPED WITH A CDI FURLER. I DRILLED THE TURNING BLOCK OUT OF THE MAST FOR THE EXISTING JIM HALYARD THAT WAS NOT BEING USED DUE TO THE FURLER. I THEN REINSTALLED IT ABOUVE THE FORESTAY. IT'S WORKED GREAT.

Troy, The spinnaker exit sheave is located appx. 1 1/2-2 inches above the forestay. You could do what sean suggested if you have a furling system. If not, then order the sheave block and if your mast is a Z-Spar, contact Tom Thomas for the part at 904-462-3760.

Halyard Location?

This is mainly for Dave, but anyone else can reply...What if I try to fly a chute from the factory genoa haylard location below the forestay on my Hunter 19 waterballest? I have CDI furling and hoped to just hoist the chute in a sock as high as possible and make sure the sheets were outside the furled genoa. I can envision a small amount of interference, but nothing critical. Thanks for your reply. Dick

Spinnaker halyard

Dick; In all the years I have sailed, not once have I flown a spinnaker. I am use to the main and jib/genoa. As for the spinnaker halyard, it is recommended that it be placed above the forestay for as you pointed out, there would be some interference as the spinnaker would be caught on the forestay when shifting sides.
