Has anyone added a spinnaker for their new 36 or 356 or other hunter. Some H-36 owners talked about this a while back and would love to know how they made out. I am looking to add a spinnaker later this season on our new H-36. Nick

Spinnaker

Hi Nick... Ask your dealer to add a spinnaker halyard. You will need to have them add a Spinlock clutch too, either on the mast, or on the cabin top near your furling lines (unless you have a spare one already). I had mine put on the mast. When I rig in the spring, I run the jib halyard through the mast Spinlock and back to the winch to hoist the jib and tension the halyard. When it's set, I lock it in the mast Spinlock and coil up the halyard on the mast. This leaves the Spinlock at the winch free for the spinnaker halyard. You will also need a few turning blocks. I got mine on sale at West Marine. One will go somewhere up near your anchor roller for the tack line. I attach the other two on the back of the arch to route the spinnaker sheets to the winches. I ordered a Doyle asymetric spinnaker with the sock from the chandlery on this site. The red, white, and blue pattern looks great, and the sail works great in light air. The sock makes it easy to deploy and douse the sail. I would recommend an ATN Tacker, which is a smooth plastic collar used to attach the sail tack to your rolled up jib. The sail does come with a similar collar, but it is very rough and I think it would chafe the jib over time. On another note, I'm finally in. I'll be at the yard this weekend doing some work. If you're in the neighborhood, stop by.

these guys can't hear. How many of us could have written the exact same post that Nick just put up? Ah, America. ;)
