Call Hunter

They can fax you a diagram for the halyard, cleats, and winches you will need. I think it may have been in the photo forum at on time might check there as well.

I know who to call

If your mast is a Z spar, then I suggest you either email or call Julian Crisp at US spar and he can tell you the location. Usually it will be about 4-6 incesc above the forestay attachement. Sounds like you have one of the early boats.

Spinaker

It's very easy first is your boat equiped with a furler. Second do you plan on using an asymetric or symetric spinaker

Spinnaker answers

Thanks for the responses but no one answered my original question. How do you attach the block to the mast ? i.e. rivet/bolt it in place? What's the difference in asymetric or radial ?? Help............

My 1995 H23.5 has an unused sheave in the mast just an inch or two above the forestay attachment. (The jib halyard is an inch or two below.) Is this for a spinnaker? I'd like to use it for a jibsock, but I don't see any exit point for a line on the lower part of the mast. Does that sound right? How would it even be used for a spinnaker? ...RickM...

But there is no halyard exit at the bottom

I don't get it. Where is it supposed to come out?

Check This Site

You should be able to pick up the parts at any chandlery but here is a picture. The US Spar part number you need is 1630 Item: halyard exit delrin SMALL Part No: 1630 Price: $2.86 http://www.usspars.com/section_frame.asp?Section=Z190

OK, I see

So, I need to cut a hole then. I thought I was blind or daft and just didn't see where the halyard might come out. Funny that they installed the top sheave but not the bottim exit. I'm really only looking for a way to hoist the jib sock that I ordered. I'm hoping I can just flip the main halyard around the spreader and use it. With the fractional rig of the H23.5, that might work.

From the Manual II

Spinnaker halyard exit is 1.5" above the forestay. There is a diagram in section VII of the owners manual. How you attach the sheeve will depend upon which one you buy. Check the attached link for the US Spars hardware. I would go with an internal one but an external may be easier. A spinnaker needs to be outside the forestay so the jib halyard will not work. I have a spinnaker on my want list as well. Seems most folks go with an asymetrical on these boats. Hope this helps http://www.usspars.com/section_frame.asp?Section=Z190
