Well I put a spin start system on my five hp outboard and it works GREAT. No more pull starting for me. I wanted to use a cordless drill with the set up and so found out you at least need a 24 volt drill to work properly. I tried an 18 volt but the brushes smoked! Otherwise it is an easy start, far better than pulling to get it rolling. I got the spin start through Northern, and I also want to tank the guy who pointed me in this direction. Later I will post some pics of the installation!

Say What ???

If this is what I think it is, I am just left speechless. You gona tell me that you spent God's knows how many greenbacks in a high torque "drill" just to start a 5 Hp outboard ?? Come on guys, have anybody, any of you out there, PLEASE tell this gentleman that there is another aproach !! Has he ever considered a very cheap and easy to add electric starter ??

Hey Neura, Don't think they made electric

starters for them Brigg and Strattons. I have one in my lawnmower but it starts real nice with the pull cord.
