I am trying to replace a broken cam on a SpinLock unit on deck of a H336. The SpinLock must be taken apart to do this. Are these units fastened with thru deck bolts and do I need to cut the head liner to get at the bolts? Or are they screwed from the top into the deck? Please advise.

Machine screws

Jerry: Most of the Hunters had machine screws tapped into the alum. backing plates in the cabin roof. There should be two screws in each unit. Just back out the screws and remove the units. When replacing them do a good job of cleaing up the clutch and gel coat area. Use a high quality (non-adheasive)caulk. DO NOT tighten them down when you reseat them. Just enough so the caulking makes good contact with the gel coat and the clutch. Let it cure for 24 hours and then tighten them down.

Thanks for the info Steve

Thanks Steve. I was ready to saw cut the liner. The screw heads must be covered with dirt/dust because I could not see them.

spinlock removal

A few add-ons to Steve's comments: you should be able to find the screws inside the spinlock, thru the mechanism. I've found that they tend to corrode (ss into aluminum) so they may be hard to break loose-be sure to use a good phillips screwdriver and put a lot of down pressure on the bit to keep it from riding out. I use an impact driver to break them loose-I have a battery powered one, but the motorcycle-hit the tool with a hammer should work, too. when you reinstall, use new screws if the heads are at all damaged, and use lots of anti-seize on the threads
