This is a continuation of a previous thread on Spiders. A friend alerted me to an article in the latest BOAT U.S. magazine about an product from Starbrite called "Spider Away". A non-toxic spray that can be applied to all surfaces safely, with one application lasting up to 6 months. It might be something to look into if you are as tired of dealing with spiders aboard your boat as I am. $14.99 a bottle.

Before running off to my local WM I;d like to know if anyone has actually tried this product?

I missed the most recent string on this sbj., but did anyone mention the use of fabric softener dryer sheets to keep spiders away?
I think that 'Bounce' and 'Snuggle' are some of the brand names, but generic, store brands work just as well.
Place a few around the salon and even under bunk cushions.
In addition to ridding the boat of the messy, nasty, 8-leggers, your boat will smell nice.
(For us the sheets were also effective in lessening the problem on the exterior.)

I like cats for mouse control and spiders for bug control. Spiders are better because I don't feel bad about killing them when they go where I don't want them. If you look at spider webs in the early morning you will find that they are almost as good as screens for dealing with bugs. Besides all of that they are rather fun to watch as they build new webs each night and some actually remove their webs in the morning recycling the silk as a resource.

Ortho Home Defense, sold at the big box stores.
I had a house full of spiders. To the point it was embarrassing inviting people over to the house. I had enough. I sprayed Ortho Home Defense everywhere and it killed all the spiders all the bugs, ants, fleas, you name it. I spray it around the window frames, sprayed the carpet, around all the door jambs, behind the washing machine, the entire basement, and all around the house.
The cat is still alive so all is well.
I hate spiders. Oh, by the way did I mention I hate spiders? Ortho Home Defense.... good stuff!

DanH, all you need do is get rid of the prey, spiders are just like the rest of us, they tend to live where the cost of living is low and the benefits are large.
P.S. We tend to hate that which we do not know or understand.
