My favorite boat shoes are hard to locate. Those cheap lace up canvas Sperry Top- Siders. I like the green or tan color. Any help locating them would be great. Thanks

L.L.Bean has a nice canvas boat shoe. I don't know if it "Sperry" or not but the price is good and it's very comfortable. Check out their web site too. Good luck, Jack

Sperry...

I used to think Sperry made the "best" boat shoe. They certainly make shoes that are comfortable, but I would never buy their boat shoes, for use on my boat, again. They are great for slippers around the house. Every pair of Sperry boat shoes (3) that I've had worked well for about a season and then their patented razor sole seemed to harden and the shoes actually became a hazard in that they would allow you to slip all over the deck. An ordinary pair of $40 New Balance walking shoes/sneaks beat Sperry in comfort, price, and performance, IMHO.

If you are looking for GREAT boat shoes...

you have to try Crocs!! They are an ugly plastic looking shoe that is FANTASTIC as a boat shoe. They are super comfortable and they hold great on a wet slippery deck. They are the only shoe that I wear now on my boat. Try this link:

I think I know which ones you're talking about, and I think these are the closest: http://www.sperrytopsider.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemID=904&itemType=PRODUCT&iMainCat=143&iSubCat=145&iProductID=904 although they only have white & faded blue. My local chandleries stopped carrying them, so I tried the Sperry Figawi Zipper. The first pair had a defective zipper. I lost one of the second pair overboard in the rain on Lake Huron during a race. The third pair started to fall apart after two months, so I got them restitched. Then the zippers broke. I don't recommend them. I used to get a whole season with the $20 canvas ones. I miss those days. Kevin

Boat Shoes Unlimited

We first started buying from these people at the Dallas Boat show when their booth was right across from the Power Squadron booth that I was working. Then on visits to Houston we started to buy at their store in Kemah. Now with the internet we buy online. In fact they are closing/have closed the store in Kemah and moved back home to Ohio. Selling online frees you to work from any location you like as long as you have good shipping access. They have a good selection and are very helpful on the phone if you can't find what you want.

Best shoes....

I am sure everyone has their favorite boating shoe, but here is my choice. I had a pretty bad run on purchasing shoes. I made the mistake of buying a shoe made by Dubarry at a boat show. My wife had purchased a pair the previous year and loved them. I could not break them in, and in fact packed them for a business trip by accident. After wearing them for 5 days in a row I wound up at a Podiatrist getting a shot of cordisone in one foot. All because of these shoes. I then stopped into Nordstroms, which is known for a great selection of shoes (and a knowledgable staff). They put me into a pair of Sperry Gold Cup boat shoes and they are the best shoes I have ever worn. My second favorite is a pair of Sperry/New Balance sneakers. These are great on those extra hot days.
