Hi - Below are numbers from the specifications section of this website for my Hunter 33, 1980, I assume they relate to common items I just don't know. I am trying to transport my boat from New Bern to Boston and the companies need some more info on heights, lenghts, etc... can anyone tell me what the following indications are? Those numbers relate to your sails. http://www.secondwindsails.com/measurement.php Your shipping company should need no more than overall length, width, height with rig down and weight. Where is New Bern? Why not sail the boat? Tim R.

Those are sail measurements: I=Mast height above deck J=horizontal distance from base of forestay to mast P=luff length of mainsail; i.e. from top of mast to boom E=length of foot of mainsail; i.e. boom length For great detail see the below website on how to measure or almost any sailing book.

Hi thank you for the input, the one measurement I can not seem to find is the height of the boat from base of keel to top of deck for clearance issues. Any thoughts were I can find that info, I do have the 5'3 keel.... I have thought long and hard about sailing, but I am nervious about ware and tear, we had a great conversation at the all-sailor forum last week about it. Mainly, time is the problem. Thanks, ERic

tape measure
Get a tape measure and check it. If in the water used the draft(at the water line) and then take a measurement from water line to top of deck. use a board or even the boom (don't forget to subtract the difference of the boom to the deck measurement and make sure the boom is level)Best to double check this after loaded on trailer, I'm sure the trucker will as he will be responsible if he were to hit a bridge. Bottom line is the boat is transportable with the mast off the road height will depend on the trailer and how the boat is set on it more the the actual boat height. Not to worry they move this size boat all the time with out problems. You might if time allows think about getting the boat trucked north to New Jersey area and sailing it from there to Boston. It is a great trip and chances are you will not have the opportunity to do it again. Just a thought good luck with your move.
