I have just fitted a jabsco "luxury" electric toilet 58220-1012 (12v, saltwater flush with separate touchpad control panel) and found that the instructions for the electrical connections are not accurate in that they miss out two important facts!
The setup includes two pumps; one is the FLUSH pump built into the toilet pedestal, the other is the RAW WATER pump which is used to fill the bowl and is mounted apart from the toilet itself (I've hidden mine in an adjacent locker in my heads).
Both require an electrical supply source (+ve) from battery or your boat master elec panel, and both require a return to your boat electrical earth (-neg).
The instructions for connecting the supply side (+ve) are clear enough, BUT their instructions and wiring diagram only show where to connect the -neg return from the RAW water pump, and not the FLUSH pump.
If you follow their instructions faithfully you will be be able to fill your bowl with water but not empty it!
The natural assumption is that the black spare wire from the FLUSH pump also needs to be connected to your boat -neg return and you would be right, even though this is not pictured or documented.
BUT there is an easier way!: The kit supplied by Jabsco with this toilet also includes a small black Control Box with lots of wires coming out of it. Each of these are described in the instructions and wiring diagram supplied EXCEPT for two unlabelled black wires, which seem to be superfluous.
In conversation with Jabsco I discover they are -neg return for each of the two pumps I referred to at the start.
This is not documented anywhere but saves running two potentially long -neg returns from your boat battery or elec control panel to the respective pumps saving much time and effort!
I hope this saves someone the extra effort I was unable to avoid until it was too late!
