Does anyone know how much the bow pulpit adds to the length of a C30? I am considering buying a tall rig and I am trying to determine the length including the bow pulpit. My marina is including that in the length for a dock.

I measured mine for you

I went out the the garage and measured 22" with no anchor, I think the speck says 24". Oh yeah the ladder on the back is about another 6" shhhhhh. Dean

Thanks

Thanks for checking. I had no idea that it was so long. I guess my estimate of 6-8 inches was way off. Cheers,

Just Think What Dinghy Davits Would Do?

Killer is'nt it? To think marina's either for transient stayovers or long term docking get you with all overhangs! Do not think they will not charge you if you have davits hanging off the back holding up your dinghy. That is why those rotating davits do so well. I have the bow sprit on my Mark II 1988 model as well and I think they add a lot of class to the 30. Bob Lake Lanier, GA

a hole in the water...

I think this is why marinas get the "rip you off" reputation. I will have to get into a 32 ft dock just because of the bow sprit. That's an extra $400! It's just another example of taking advantage of the boating public.

c30

Our marina is the same way, slips above 30 are about $1000 more per season. I bought a 96 C30 MkIII and removed the bow sprit, so I have a standard C30 with a tall rig. Official length is 29' 11" without the bow sprit. It is a wing keel and it sails great. I talked to Catalina before I did it, and they said I was not ploughing new ground, they made several Standard (no bow sprit) with tall masts. NOt a hard job, but spent a lot of time with high school trig books figuring out how much to cut off head stay. Cut the roller furling at the top and it is not a problem. fair winds Dave any questions, send me an e-mail
