Someone stole my shoes!! I was looking at the Catalina boats and took my old, nasty, ratty looking Sebago boat shoes off and left them at the bottom of the stairs, just like every one else. When I returned, they were gone. There was another pair of the same shoes across the aisle from where I had left mine, but they were a size 9 and I wear a size 10 1/2 wide. Those size 9 shoes were there the rest of the day, so I assume that the person accidently took mine by mistake. The problem was, he could wear my larger shoes, but even though his were in better shape then mine, there was no way I could squeeze into the smaller shoes. I walked around in my socks for the next 2 hours looking at everyone's shoes, hoping to find mine. I even put a note inside the size 9 shoes asking that he call my cell phone if he realized his mistake and came back for his own shoes. I never did find them, so I ended up having to buy a new pair from one of the exhibitors. I was really mad when it happened, but I am laughing about it now!

Shoe salesman?

Are you sure it wasn't a shoe salesman from one of the booths :) Had a buddy have the same thing happen at the Annapolis show this year. It's why I try to park mine next to the wife's but there are so many stupid people out there it's no guarantee. How can you not recognize your own shoes? Duh!

Keywords...Old, Nasty, Ratty

Barring the salesman trick, there are many old, nasty and rattey boat shoes that show up at the boat shows. Maybe they were taken by an unsuspecting person who wore the same size boat shoe as you?

Actually, they fit him pretty well

He probably put them on the wrong feet...

Paul, his were a size and 1/2 SMALLER then mine!

That's the part I don't get. How can he not notice a shoe that is so much larger then his own? And mine were in a lot worse shape then his!! Oh well, at least I enjoyed the rest of the show, when I wasn't staring at everyone's shoes.

other than that

How'd you like the show? I enjoyed myself on Thur and Fri. but Sat. was too crowded for my taste. I'm guessing the shoe thing happened on Saturday.

Same Thing Happens When Leaving a Party in Hawaii

Everyone takes their shoes off and leaves them at the door. The last one to leave gets the worst pair of shoes. If you really want to mess with them take one shoe of two different pairs.

Next time

bring a plastic colored clothes hanger and clip your two shoes together. Most people would notice that.

Shoes

I think Mike's got a point, It sounds like a shoe salesman wanted to sell another pair of shoes. What better way to gaurntee a sale. ;D

Sorry, I took 'em

My nice tight 9s just got too tight and my feet were swelling. I didn't think you would mind if I took your old 10 1/2 wides. They were sure easier on my poor swollen feet and much easy to get off at the next 10 displays! Naaugh-I'm just kidding. So maybe West Marine was there! They were just doing dirty tricks to get you to order another pair-did you notice they were on sale right after the show?

I was kind of hoping ...

the guy that took my shoes would see this so we could both have a laugh together, and tell him he owes me a beer!!
