Speaking of trailers for an O'Day 222 - I am looking for some advise on the best approach to extending the distance between my car and trailer for ease of launching. I need to get about three to four additional feet between the two to really get the boat to float off the trailer (it has bunk boards). I notice that Catalina 22's had nice custom trailers with an extension bar system built right into to the trailer for this purpose - when launching you slide it out of it's storage sleeve, bolt in on and then hitch the car up to it. Several ideas have come up - extension ball mounts to the hitch, hitch extenders, even adding a longer toung to the trailer - but that Catalina system looked the best to me - any ideas, experiences or contacts out there ? Mine extends

My trailer which came with boat has an sliding tongue that alows it to extend 4 or 5 ft. It is square tube sliding inside another with pen hole at different lenghts. It is makeable if you are a good wielder. Trailer isnt here but I beleive it is a "trailrite". I would if you want to do it look around at at other triailers in you area and see if you can find one to exam better. Email me if you want and i can send a photo. (may take a few days since trailer is stored and not with boat) Jim

Thanks

Jim - many thanks - I think that I will call TrailRite and see what they can do, but I suspect I'll have to find someone locally to do a welding job - can you upload a photo or send it to my email address (no rush) jamesspadafora@houston.rr.com Thanks Again Jim S
