The reason I bring this up is that besides aussie and kiwi sailers, some well known American professionals have campaigned this event. It's like the PGA tour or NASCAR, where the teams compete in regattas held in fan friendly harbors around OZ and NZ each week.
There use to be a daily TV series of this event broadcast on the old Outdoor Channel back in the 90's.... It was AWESOME. Many of the sailors in that old series are Americas cup veterans today.
