Has anyone ever put waterproof speakers under the stern seats?
How did you run the wires? I have been thinking of doing that but do not know how to run the wires. I have not taken the stern seat piping off to see what is involoved. Are the tubes open where they connect with the boat?
Stereo placement would be in the port locker by the cooler. I have no idea how to get power to it.

Yes I have done this and so far all is well. I had the advice and help of a good car installation guy who did much of the work. We removed the rear rails and put the wires up through the hollow rail and out the inside of the rail the seat rests on. Mount a good exterior speaker under the seat and be sure to re seal the rails. The project may be easier than you anticipate. I did this project this year and to date have been pleased with the results. The speakers have not yet incumbered anyother activity. When the rails are off you can drill the appropiate wire holes and complete the installation. There is some information on this toopic in these archives, I did not engender this concept.

Good luck and happy sailing with music, no rap please!!

stern rail speakers

Sorry I did not finish the first reply. I have my system in the same location and we made a small opening and pulled the wires back to the electric panel. Get some help who knows how to install systems and it is a simple proceedure.
My guy was a car installer, he had never seen a sailboat in real life before. The job is professionaly done and all works well!! The job can be complete in one day. If done properly this becomes a very rewarding project.

Good luck
